Protect your property from fraudsters

A campaign has been launched by the Land Registry to encourage land and property owners to protect their property from fraudsters. They are recommending that if you are a property owner but do not actually live at the property yourself (eg you are a landlord, or living abroad) that you advise the Land Registry of any change in your "address for service" ie the address at which you have asked the Land Registry to write to you. This will enable the Land Registry to warn you if any third party tries to make an application affecting your property. And even if you havn't changed your address for service, it might tbe wise to check it from time to time to make sure no-one has changed it for you!
