Family wins claim for compensation over birth injury

Family wins claim for compensation in clinical negligence case
A family has won its claim for compensation after their son was left permanently disabled due to mistakes made during his birth.

The parents of Stephen Loraine launched a legal case against Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust after the boy was deprived of oxygen while being delivered at Arrowe Park Hospital.

As a result, the child, now aged nine, developed spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and impaired sight, which has left him reliant on 24-hour care.

Stephen's family have now won a sizeable payout after the trust admitted responsibility for the incident and issued an apology.

A spokesman for the medical facility said: "The trust sincerely hopes that the agreed settlement will enable Stephen's family to provide the care and support that he needs."

Earlier this week, the mother of a man from Manchester won a legal claim for compensation for injuries sustained by her son during birth following a 35-year legal battle.ADNFCR-2158-ID-19597044-ADNFCR
