Girl wins £100k claim for compensation from hospital

Girl wins claim for compensation in clinical negligence case
A girl has been awarded a settlement worth £100,000 after her family made a claim for compensation against the hospital responsible for her debilitating birth injury.

Julie-Ann Nash launched a legal case against Poole Hospital in Dorset after her daughter Laura-Louise was left with a broken collarbone due to inappropriate methods used during her delivery.

As a result, the girl now has a condition called Erb's palsy which has left her with impaired use of her right arm, causing difficulties in her day-to-day living.

She will now be awarded the six-figure payout on her 18th birthday in order to assist with her future needs.

A spokesman for the hospital said that improvements have been made at the facility as a result of the case, adding: "We hope the settlement will help Laura-Louise to achieve her future plans and aspirations."

Earlier this month, a girl from Buckinghamshire was awarded a payout worth £5.6 million after being left with permanent brain damage because she was deprived of oxygen during her birth.ADNFCR-2158-ID-19602328-ADNFCR
