Holidaymakers seek legal action after 'cruise from hell'

Thomson
A group of 70 holidaymakers have sought the advice of solicitors after falling ill on a cruise which they described as hellish.

The tourists from all over the UK are seeking compensation from Thomson after contracting stomach bugs onboard the Island Escape over Christmas.

They claim that once the passengers had begun to fall ill with fever, sickness and diarrhoea, port authorities in various countries would not let them in and they were effectively quarantined on the ship.

Holidaymakers allege that Thomson staff failed to keep the cruise ship clean and said unhygienic toilets and terrible smells were prevalent onboard.

A spokesperson for Thomson insisted that outbreaks of norovirus are common everywhere and said the Island Escape has previously rated highly in customer satisfaction surveys.

Last month, it was revealed that 30 holidaymakers are suing Thomson for personal injury compensation after falling ill the Los Gigantes Hotel in Tenerife, which they said was unclean.
